Welcome to the April 2022 issue of VFX Voice!

Happy Anniversary, VFX Voice! Five years ago, the Visual Effects Society published our inaugural issue of VFX Voice. After shining a light on VFX artistry and innovation for 20 years, it was a huge point of pride to create a new forum to uplift the art, the craft and the people of the global visual effects community and our thriving Society. Because of your enthusiastic support, VFX Voice quickly claimed the mantle as a must-read print and digital magazine, garnered prestige in the publishing community and keeps earning its moniker as “the definitive authority on all things VFX.”

We took a longstanding goal of the organization, to create the standard-bearer publication for the VFX industry and – with a remarkable editorial, creative and publishing team at the helm – brought this dream to life. Thank you for being an integral part of the magazine’s success.

All year long, VFX Voice is celebrating special moments in the Society’s 25-year legacy, so consider this issue another commemorative keepsake and read on for a salute to our eyepopping magazine covers from April 2017 to today.

Also in this issue: We go inside the big-screen VFX of The Matrix Resurrections, The Tragedy of Macbeth, The French Dispatch and animated Belle, as well as the small-screen anime spinoff of Blade Runner: Black Lotus. We sit down for personal profiles with VFX Supervisor Sue Rowe and director Marcus Stokes. We delve into global VFX trends, the outlook on animation and what’s ahead for VR and AR. We update virtual production developments with a filmmakers roundtable and dive deep into LED volumes. And we serve up the latest in tech & tools, highlight our Toronto Section and more.

Now, turn the page and meet the visionaries and risk-takers who push the boundaries of what’s possible and advance the field of visual effects.

Cheers!
